Gordon Wallace - Advertising

Advertising was a field that matured later on in my life. I did see a lot of ads on TV and on billboards as a child, filling up my visual memory. But it wasn't until I studied graphic design in Glasgow Metropolitan College that I found out what sort of field it actually can be .. and how good I was at making ads.

The class had an reward system for whoever made the best work for a module in the course. Everyone's work was hung up on the wall after creation and the best three had a sticker on them saying (next to a photo of George W Bush doing a thumbs up, in Arial) "client's choice."

The only time I got a sticker was I created a ad campaign about recycling.

Later on there was a competition to design a poster for student literacy support ("Maggie" was the name of the woman running the service, if I remember). My design made it to the final three for selection for printing.

From then on I began reading up on the subject and its history, becoming part of my skillset.

These two ads were made during my year as a graphic design student.

The following ads were made (or had involved) me for clients.
